Gianluca Vigliar was born in Rome in 1979, he started his music studies with piano when he was eight years old, but after he attended a performance by the famous Tony Scott he developed a passion for Jazz music and decided to approach his studies towards the tenor saxophone with Paolo Farinelli . Successively he took part at the Conservatory Morlacchi in Perugia attending the saxophone’s class with Mario Raya, he graduated in 2007. Simultaneously with the Conservatory’s studies he started the activity of sideman and arranger for many national reggae and pop bands participating to many national and international Festivals: In 2004 won together with Andrea Rivera the first award at the Festival del Teatro-Canzone Giorgio Gaber inViareggio, in 2006 the award for the event “Primo Maggio tutto l’anno” playing at the Concerto del primo Maggio(National Labor day) with the band Wogiagia like arranger and compeser and saxophonist. In April 2010 he graduated at the second level at the Conservatorio di S.Cecilia, Jazz degree with highest honours. In the same year he took part in the ensamble of the director of the Jazz Departement of the Accademy of S.Cecilia of Rome, also with Paolo Damiani in many festivals (Siena Jazz ,Roccella Jazz Festival ). During the new emerging bands contest of Festival Jazz in Fara Sabina “Fara in Jazz” in 2011 won the first award as the best solo artist. The year after with his project of trio pianoless “Vigliar G Trio” participated at the “Italian Jazz Days in New York” coordinated by the Director of the Lincoln Center Antonio Ciacca, performing during one of his shows with the special guest Fabio Zeppetella. Also during the last few years he took part in many BigBands as first tenor player with the Orchestra Jazz of Villa Celimontana directed by M.Corvini during Festival di Villa Celimontana in 2010 and 2011. Recently is part of the O.J.P (jazz orchestra Parthenopea)of Pino Jodice who performed together with Paolo Fresu and Raed Khoshaba in 2016, and since two years he is also part of another project of the famous piano composer Pino Jodice,“Pino Jodice Quintet “, they will perform at the “ Casa del Jazz “ on June 11th 2016 . Domenico Sanna
Born in 1984 in Gaeta (LT), Domenico Sanna is a highly refined and established pianist in Italy and abroad, who can boast stellar collaborations with great international artists, including Dave Liebman, Jeff Ballard, Steve Grossman, Bill Stewart, Peter Berstein, Joe Lovano, Eddie Gomez, Dayna Stephens, Logan Richardson, Gregory Hutchinson, and Italians such as Gegè Telesforo, Roberto Gatto, Stefano Di Battista, Fabrizio Bosso, Francesco Cafiso, Gegè Munari. At the age of 6 he began his first piano studies and had the opportunity to stay in contact with music and theater thanks to his large family. Having moved to Rome in 2003, he began studying jazz piano at the University of Music; After a year he was invited to the prestigious Blue Note in Milan with Fabio Mariani’s group.He receives a scholarship from the “Global Music Foundation 2005 attends the “Seminar of all musics” in Certaldo (FI), always participates as a scholarship holder in the second edition of ROMA JAZZ COOL and in the three editions of “WE LOVE JAZZ” in Tuscia where in In 2007 he won the “Best Pianist” award in the Jimmy Woody competition held in Soriano del Cimino (VT), on the jury George Cables, Bobby Dhuram, Benny Golson, Jimmi Cobb, Joey de Francesco. In the meantime he came into contact with and became passionate about the Roman jazz scene.In 2007 he graduated from the University of Music with top marks.In 2008 he joined Mario Raja’s orchestra and the singer-songwriter Piji’s group and recorded with saxophonist Marco Ferri for the “NUCCIA production” label.Also in 2008 he recorded an album with the saxophonist Rick Margitza for the “Tuscia in Jazz” label, furthermore in the same year he won the “Luca Flores” award as best soloist held in Barga and won another award as “best emerging talent” from “Armonia Foundation of Arts”.In 2009 he recorded “Piu Sole”, the new album by Nicky Nicolai and Stefano di Battista for “Universal” and “Too High” by Marco Acquarelli for “LHOBO”.In 2010 he published his first album as a leader: “Too Marvelous For Words”, for “TOSKY RECORDS”, with Giorgio Rosciglione and Marco Valeri, and with the same trio he recorded the album “One Night” with Dave Liebman for “Tuscia in Jazz”.
Ameen Saleem
Bassist, Ameen Saleem, was born July 2, 1979, and raised in Washington, DC. He now resides in Brooklyn, New York. ”I’m a chill, laid back person until I get a bass in my hand… then it’s on. Love, love, love music and anything art related. People often ask what kind of music do I play. I respond, “I play bass.” All genres are fair game.If I don’t know the genre, I’ll improvise, listen, and find my way into the groove.”He goes on to say, “Born and raised in DC. Proud of that. I love my city. But I also love to travel. You never know where I’ll be. I go a little bit of everywhere throught music. The only way to know me really is to meet me or some of my close friends. I have many. I’m a people person No enemies that I know of.” Ameen graduated from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in 1997.He went on to attend North Carolina Central University from 1997-2001. He majored in Music Performance, earning a Bachelor’s Degree. He performed in the Jazz Ensemble and was Musical Director of the Choir Ball. From 2002-2005, Ameen attended Cuny Queens College in Flushing, New York, earning a Master’s Degree, majoring in Music Performance.Recently, Ameen Saleem has been touring extensively across the US, Europe and Japan with The Roy Hargrove Quintet and the Roy Hargrove Big Band.
Marco Valeri
Marco Valeri is one of the most prominent drummers in Italy. Born in Rome, in 1978,his father is a drummer and this gave him the opportunity to get very close to music and to drums when he was still a kid. Love for jazz music came quite early and he soon had the chance to play with renowned artists such as George Garzone, Steve Grossman, Benny Golson, Dave Liebman, Eddie Henderson, Rick Margitza, Scott Hamilton, Eddie Gomez, developing in terms of both experience and deep knowledge of jazz tradition. He has been paying in some of the most prestigious festivals worldwide ,he played in Spain, Portugall , Germany, France , Great Britain, Holland ,Turkey, USA, Japan, Israel, Russia and many others. He is an active member of Rosario Giuliani quartet ,Flavio Boltro quintet, Nicola Conte Jazz Combo, Sarah Mckenzie 4et, Giovanni Amato Organ 4et and many other..and he is currently carrying on is own quartet together with Daniele Tittarelli (sax), Francesco Lento (trumpet) and Pietro Ciancaglini (bassist).
